Concert at the ΣAE chapter house
Nashua rapper Aziz to perform this Saturday
By Brian Ward
Durham- On September 24th, local fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon will hold a rap concert as a fundraiser for their chapter. The concert will be on the front lawn of the fraternity’s chapter house and will feature performing artists Aziz, Serge Didenko and DJ Goulet.

Tickets for the concert go on sale this week and can be bought from any member of ΣAE for five dollars. The fraternity encourages people to come to the concert, saying they expect to have a great show.  “If anyone wants to come, come. [We’re] not going to judge anybody for wanting to have a good time.” ΣAE member Nick Erickson said.

ΣAE member Ray Miller said that the fraternity wanted a more experienced musician to perform rather than a college student. Over the summer the fundraising committee got in contact with the manager of the lead performer, Aziz, who already has a large following in the local area and an opening act. “This guy [Aziz] is locally known, graduated from a local high school, [and we] wanted someone with a lot of experience comparatively” said Miller on why Aziz was asked to perform.  Aziz is originally from Nashua, NH and almost opened at the Wiz Kalifa concert last year.

ΣAE is holding the concert as a fund raiser for their local chapter. The fraternity plans to use the money that they raise to renovate parts of the ΣAE chapter house. Although, according to Nick Erickson, “The money can go towards anything, possible events, going to Montreal, things like that.”

“[We’re] shooting for over 4 figures,” Nick Brands said, “last semester’s [concert] raised over $1,000 toward ΣAE. “ Brands is a member of the fraternity’s fundraising committee that is organizing the event. He has been working hard to increase publicity for the event, getting up at seven earlier this week to chalk ads on the sidewalks in campus. “Any extra support is appreciated” Brands said. He says that he feels that rap concerts are popular now amongst UNH students, and is hoping to raise between $1,000- $2,000 dollars for the fraternity.
